The German for Academic Purposes (GAP) course is specifically designed to improve both your German language skills and essential academic competencies, preparing you for higher education in a German-speaking environment. The course focuses on enhancing academic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, while also building critical academic abilities such as note-taking, presenting, and conducting research.

By the end of the course, you'll be well-equipped for university-level studies, capable of engaging with complex texts, writing formal academic papers, and communicating effectively in academic settings. This prepares you for success in a German-speaking academic environment.

 These skills will ensure you are fully prepared for higher education in a German-speaking academic environment.

Please note: At the end of your course, your Certificate will be issued if attendance has met all requirements (minimum 85%) 

Course materials

In the German for Academic Purposes (GAP) course, we provide a variety of study materials and resources to support your studies such as textbooks, worksheets, authentic materials, and teacher-created material unique to your group. You will attend 15 hours of class per week, complete a placement test to assess your language level, be continuously assessed to track your progress and attend regular monthly tutorials. You can also request a personal progress report to ensure you are meeting your learning goals.
Our experienced teachers design engaging lessons and offer expert guidance to help you build skills required for success. In addition, the school provides welfare support and assistance with any academic or non-academic challenges you may face throughout the course. With these resources and continuous support, you should be fully prepared for university studies in a German-speaking environment.

Outcomes

From delivering presentations and writing reviews to crafting academic term papers by the end of the course, you will be proficient in producing well-structured, comprehensible, and engaging academic texts in German. By learning German for Academic Purposes, you can build your knowledge of German by learning to use grammar the right way. Moreover, learning how to improve research, presentation and writing skills is also part of the course. You will look closely at the elements of German grammar required for the understanding of written German along with practical advice and observations. Students who successfully complete the course will meet the German language requirements for admission at our partner institutions.
